Our family tradition

Fish & Chips has been a family tradition since 1966. Now in our third generation – the Papa’s family has grown to over 300 including our hard working team, who act as our extended family members. There’s a bit of Papa’s passion in all of us.

Biography: Following in his father’s footsteps, Mr Papa is proud to serve the Nation’s Favourite Dish leading a team of over 300 passionate family members. Mr Papa’s greatest achievement was opening the World’s Largest Fish & Chip Shop.

Andrew Papas

Years of Service: 17 years
Favourite Meal: Cod & Chips
Biography: Andrew has worked in Fish & Chips since the age of 15. Having worked in every position, he has a great grasp and understanding of the Fish & Chip Industry.

Dino Papas

Dino Papas

Direct Descendant (3rd Generation)

Years of Service: 15 years
Favourite Meal: Haddock & Chips
Biography: Dino’s passion is front of house and customer service. Dino worked as a solicitor prior to pursuing his dream of joining the family business. Dino works closely with the Management teams to ensure high standards and consistency.

George Papas

George Papas

Direct Descendant (3rd Generation)

Years of Service: 15 years
Favourite Meal: Haddock & Chips
Biography: George loves Fish & Chips and loves to share his passion for the dish and great service with the rest of the team. After graduating and working as a doctor, George joined the family business. George was named as the Young Fish Frier of the Year in 2017.

Charlie Cunningham

Charlie Cunningham

Area Manager

Years of Service: 4 years
Favourite Meal: Haddock & Chips
Biography: Having worked in hospitality for some of the world’s leading hospitality brands in 2015 Charlie joined Papas. After a matter of months Charlie had been promoted to Manager and soon began to follow the Papa’s Career Path and pursue her dreams of an Area Management position.

Bailey Thornton

Bailey Thornton

General Manager (Cleethorpes)

Years of Service: 3 years
Favourite Meal: Steak Pie
Biography:
 Having joined Papa’s at the age of 17 – bailey was passionate to follow the Papa’s Career Path. Having completed his Seafood Training Apprenticeship within a year Bailey was eager for another challenge. When the Cleethorpes restaurant opened, Bailey was chosen as the General Manager. Bailey’s greatest achievement is being the General Manager of the World’s Largest Fish & Chip Shop.

Becky Broughton

Becky Broughton

Manager (Cleethorpes)

Years of Service: 4 years
Favourite Meal: Fishcakes & Chips
Biography: Becky has been with Papa’s since the first Hull restaurant opened its doors. Becky has evolved and grown and so too has Papas. She has been a key part of this journey so far and is a great example of following the Papa’s Career Path. Becky is a true key player and shares this sense of hospitality with the team and her guests in the restaurant.

Scott Monkman

Scott Monkman

General Manager (Willerby)

Years of Service: 2 years
Favourite Meal: Skate & Chips
Biography: Scott joined with previous experience as a Kitchen Manager in one of britain’s largest restaurant chains. He has brought a wealth of experience and passion to progress in a front of house position. Scott enjoys visitng with his young family on his days off and observing as a customer and learning from this experience.

Ellie Young

Ellie Young

Manager (Willerby)

Years of Service: 4 years
Favourite Meal: Grilled Cod Salad
Biography: Ellie has been a key member of the Papa’s team since the first restaurant opened in Hull. Ellie has been instrumental in its foundation and evolution and has been passionate in sharing this journey with the guests and fellow family members. Ellie completed her Seafood Training Academy Apprenticeship and pursued a position in the Management Team in 2016.

Maria Georgiou

Maria Georgiou

Manager (Willerby)

Years of Service: 2 years
Favourite Meal: Haddock & Chips
Biography: Maria joined Papa’s after working in the hospitality industry around the world for the last 20 years. Maria is passionate about providing guests and the team with a true sense of memorable hospitality. Maria is a firm believer that hospitality and great service are what sets us apart – and she loves sharing this belief amongst the whole management team and family.

Danielle Mahon

Danielle Mahon

General Manager (Hull)

Years of Service: 3 years
Favourite Meal: Grilled Seabass
Biography: Danielle joined Papa’s as a key member of our takeaway team. Since joining Danielle was determined to join the Management Team and worked hard to complete her training throughout her pregnancy. Once returning from her short maternity leave, Danielle immediately took up the position of General Manager and has been a key asset to the team.

Noreen Dunne

Noreen Dunne

General Manager (Bilton)

Years of Service: 2 years
Favourite Meal: Haddock & Chips
Biography: Noreen’s Irish charm and charisma makes her a key asset in the team and in the busy dining room. Noreen’s hospitable manner and good organisational skills enable to work well in teams and develop strong bonds with other family members and guests in our restaurant or takeaway.

Paul Murray

Paul Murray

General Manager (Scarborough)

Years of Service: 2 years
Favourite Meal: Cod & Chips
Biography: Paul Murray has worked in Fish & Chips for more than a decade. With a vast knowledge following years as an accomplished fish frier, Paul was keen to progress in a front of house position. Paul’s passionate about sourcing the best raw ingredients and preparing them with care – this passion and knowledge has been passed onto Paul’s whole team.

 

Jack Nee

Jack Nee

General Manager (Scarborough)

Years of Service: 2 years
Favourite Meal: Plaice & Chips
Biography: As Papa’s youngest General Manager, Jack offers the whole team a great fresh perspective. Since joining as a food runner and progressing through to Supervisor Jack was promoted to General Manager in 2018. He has worked hard to instill a great work ethic and sense of Hospitality in his team.
