COMMUNITY & CHARITY

The Papa’s Foundation was set up to ensure our restaurants were being proactive in their aim to raise funds and support for local and national community and charitable campaigns. We found being reactive and relying on sponsorship and donation requests alone were not raising was not utilising our position as a pillar of community.

Each year we will pick a selection of charities to support. Our charitable activity culminates in our ‘Penny Promise Day’. This day sees our regular fish and chips sold for just a penny. Customers on the day are then encouraged to donate a contribution towards the selected charities. This annual event raises thousands of pounds for charitable causes. So far this event has supported the RNLI, The Samaritans, Diabetes UK and local Homeless Shelters. If you would like us to consider your charity for next year please contact us.

We are comitted to feeding the homeless and those in need in our local community.

Each year we donate hundreds of meals to local shelters and hostels for those in need. Our team have also visited the streets and handed meals out in person for the most vulnerable people in our society.

We also open the doors to one of our restaurants each Christmas to feed those in need. This annual event attracts hundreds of diners looking for a warm meal and hospitable environment on Christmas day.

As part of our on going campaign to minimise food waste – we offer our food waste which has not spoilt to local hostels and shelters for them to prepare.

We receive hundreds of charity requests each month. 

Our team are determined to support as many of these as possible. Charitable donations vary from sponsorship requests to raffle prize vouchers. 

We are passionate about driving the fish and chip industry forward – while raising money for charity. 

The Batter Bucket Challenge is a great example of this. The challenge was launched in the hope that the whole industry would rally together for a phenominal cause – the Fishermen’s Mission. 

We are founders and ambassadors of the Takeaway Plastic Pledge – an initiative which aims at encouraging Takeaways to responsibly recycle and reduce the amount of single use plastic they use. 

The ultimate aim of the Takeaway Plastic Pledge is to minimise the amount of single use plastic which is discarded into the ocean. 

This initiative holds an annual beach clean day to collect single use plastic and rubbish which washes onto our coast.

We receive hundreds of sponsorship requests each month. 

We aim to sponsor at least one local team a year – but sometimes more. 

Our sporships will always be for local community based teams who have a grass roots link. If we do sponsor a larger team, it will always be because of their links to grass roots development.
