HISTORY
Going into the fourth generation, Papa’s has set the standard for the highest quality fish and chips. Mr Papa took the privilege of preparing the nation’s favourite dish seriously. We take pride preparing meals for the second, third and fourth generation of customers Mr Papa served himself.
1966
PAPA’S OPENS
England win the World Cup and the
first Papa’s opens its doors to the
public. A philosophy of great quality food, hospitality and affordability is born.
1973
secret recipe batter
Throughout the seventies Papa’s
grew from strength to strength. In
1973 Papa finally perfects his
secret recipe batter – we still use it
today!
1994
a new generation
A new generation is born. Papa’s
quickly moves up North, spreading
our delicious philosophy; natural,
sustainably sourced ingredients
prepared with care.
2015
world’s largest
Papa’s officially takes the title for
the World’s Largest Fish & Chip
Shop in Hull. The restaurant was groundbreaking and opened to critical acclaim.
2017
britain’s best fish & chips
In a BBC televised search, we were named Britain’s Best Fish & Chips following gruelling rounds of judging by the general public and Michelin Star Chefs.
2018
FISH & CHIPS IN SPACE
In a world first, Papa’s launch the nation’s favourite dish into space. Papa’s get the world record proving their fish and chips really are out of this world.
